THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD TO EVERLASTING LIFE AT THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

There are many that believe that when someone dies they live on either in heaven or hell as a disembodied spirit.  Is this true ?  First we must verify by the scriptures several things;  is a human being mortal or immortal, how do we deal with some scriptures that seem to support instant life after death and if there is life after death when do we receive this life and by what means is it achieved ?  If we closely examine the Genesis account of when GOD created Adam it would be correct to say that all humans have been created the same way.  We are all a soul composed of two things, dust and breath.  Nothing else is mentioned. When combined, dust and breath is called a soul, a living breathing creature. Also notice that Adam was not alive until the breath of life entered his body therefore it would be correct to say that the breath of life is what gives life to the body otherwise the body has no life.  Many times in scripture humans are call mortal, nowhere are humans called immortal.  The scriptures also describe how we are made alive again after we have died and it is by a resurrection from the dead at the return of Jesus.  Until Christ returns our breath of life has no breath.  The human spirit is the breath of life and returns to GOD at death but there are no lungs to breathe air as they are turning to dust.  Consider as well that all the human senses of sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing are turning to dust too, they certainly didn’t depart with the spirit.  All of the sensory functions we have are a part of the body that is made of dust and returns to dust at death.  The spirit has no sensory input therefore there is no life.  The human spirit requires a body to inhabit in order for there to be life.  This understanding agrees with many scriptures that say there is no immediate life after death but scripture rather informs us that the only way to ever live again is by a resurrection from the dead at the return of Christ.  Remember that a person is a soul, the soul is the complete person and not a third part because we have shown that only two parts combined (dust and breath) are what make a soul, a living breathing creature.  In the resurrection the saints are given new spirit bodies, Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15:44-46,  explains this plainly.

I will give you an analogy of how the human soul works by comparing the soul to a flashlight with batteries.  The flashlight represents your body and the batteries represent your human spirit, the breath of life.  As long as the batteries are in the flashlight your light will shine, but if you remove the batteries this is called death, the separation of body from spirit.  In this condition neither the batteries or the flashlight can do anything as both need each other in order to function.  Body and spirit must be a soul in order for us to be alive and able to function.  This is a well established truth and an unchanging truth by GOD ALMIGHTY.  I could give you many scriptures to confirm this but if you are not a converted Christian then you will not understand it.  You will fall for the lie of Satan, “You shall not surely die”.  GOD said, “You shall surely die” so who do you believe ?  Death is the exact opposite of life.  If you are alive you can’t be dead and if your dead you can’t be alive.  This is not only simple to understand but it is foundational truth established by GOD.  The message of the gospel Jesus Christ preached is that even though dead we can be brought back from death by a resurrection at his return on the last day.  The seventh trumpet sounds and the dead in Christ are resurrected first and along with them the saints at that time who happen to be alive.  This is when we mortals put on immortality, when we are made alive again.  Before this resurrection event we are dead and totally incapable of anything.  Living forever after death is a promise, a hope, a guarantee to us by receiving the Holy Spirit.  Those of us who endure to “the end, the last day” will receive salvation which is immortality in the kingdom of GOD.  The immortal soul idea, or any idea that supposes we are somehow immediately alive after death is a lie.  We do surely die.  Only by a resurrection will we ever live again and that when Jesus returns.

To understand all these things requires one to be a truly converted Christian with the Holy Spirit. If you don’t have the Holy Spirit then you will not understand them.  You will believe in things that are not true.  Again, any teaching or belief that says humans are immediately alive after death is a lie.  Salvation, which is everlasting life only happens when Jesus returns, never before.  To believe in any version of the immortal soul is to believe in Satans lie, “Thou shall not surely die,”  when GOD says you do surely die.  You in effect call GOD a liar and destroy the truth of the gospel and bring a curse upon yourself.  The truth about life and death is the very first thing the Holy Spirit taught me over  40 years ago.  People who have swallowed this immediate life after death lie will someday choke on it.
